You will be undergoing oral sedation, here are a few things you should know:

Before Your Appointment:

  • Please inform us of any and all medications you are currently taking
  • You cannot have alcohol or non-prescription drugs 24 hours before your appointment
  • Please ensure that you have your regular meals before your appointment
  • You will need a ride to and from your appointment

During Your Appointment:

  • We allow approximately 30 minutes for the sedation to take effect before beginning the scheduled procedure. We will allow as much time as necessary to ensure you are comfortable
  • The sedation is in the form of a pill that we place under your tongue
  • The medication does not put you to sleep, instead it makes you very relaxed and sleepy
  • The doctor and assistant will monitor the level of sedation and if the doctor feels it is necessary, they may decide to provide additional sedation in the form of nitrous or ‘laughing gas.’ This additional sedation would be provided at no extra cost

After Your Appointment:

  • You will need someone to stay with you for 24 hours after your appointment
  • No driving for 24 hours
  • The doctor’s cell phone number/emergency contact number will be provided for you in case you have any questions or concerns after hours
