what is the smile project
“The shortest distance between two people is a smile” (Victor Borge)
The Smile Project comes from the idea of intentionally impacting the community and the people who live there in a positive way. We believe that inside each of us is the ability to help make a difference and leave a footprint on the world that we can be proud of – a legacy.
The purpose of The Smile Project is not only to inspire a dental clinic and it’s patients, but also to encourage other businesses in the community to be their best – to make the kind of difference that makes people genuinely smile. Something our kids and future generations will be proud of!
The vision of The Smile Project is to positively impact 10,000 smiles through education, demonstration and contribution. The Slave Lake Dental Clinic is the proud sponsor of The Smile Project and heads the events in the community and surrounding areas.
Slave Lake Dental has been involved in community initiatives for many years however, we decided it was time to step-up and be a leader in community projects in and around town. The Smile Project allows an outlet for the clinic, the Team and the community to come together for the greater good.
Bringing smiles to those in the people who need it the most is exactly the reason why we do what we do.
With the average age of human’s life continuing to increase, it is more important than ever before for individuals to take care of their oral health. The Smile Project performs lunch-&-learns, seminars & fun talks for kids of all ages on topics (including but not limited to):

By engaging with groups in and around the community, we can provide demonstration of skills, monitoring and awareness around healthy teeth, guns and surrounding tissues to ensure optimal oral health. We offer in clinic visits for groups to educate and demonstrate proper oral hygiene habits and health.
We have a unique demonstration(s) we do with young children to identify brushing weak spots and potential problem areas do to poor brushing.
Many of our educational session crossover into demonstration whether they be clinical or in another setting. We are active in the schools at all ages and have an interest in taking care of the teachers because we feel they have a huge impact on our future generations.
By far the most important work we will do as a Team in our career is contribution to our community. We are in the dental profession because we absolutely love to see people smile! The Smile Project provides us with a unique way to make the greatest impact on our community through hosting events, promoting and supporting the initiatives that mean the most to our community.
Along with our internal events, contests and initiatives, we also know that there are many other causes in the community going on. If there’s something you feel you are doing in the community that aligns with The Smile Project, please let us know how we may be able to support you.
