DENTAL FILLINGS

When you have a dental exam, your dentist will check your fillings and may suggest you replace any loose or broken ones. They will also look for signs of decay, cavities, such as brown or black spots. If you have a cavity then you dentist may decide to fill it right away. If a large cavity if not filled, it can get bigger and cause pain leading to more extensive treatments.

Types of Fillings

There are two types of fillings described below:

  1. Tooth Colored Fillings - Composite fillings made of glass ionmer materials that are the same color as your natural teeth.

  2. Metal Fillings - Dental amalgam fillings, sometimes know as 'silver colored fillings,' are the most common type of filling used to fill back teeth.
