At Slave Lake Dental we understand that not everyone is “keen” on going to the dentist, so we offer sedation dentistry. Dr. Natalie Stone provides sedation services for patients who have a fear of the dentist and require some assistance to comfort them during their visit. Some of our patients who come in with dental fears or anxiety actually fall asleep in the chair!

Conscious sedation is a combination of medicines to help you relax during your dental visit that also lets you recover quickly and return to your everyday activities soon after your procedure. We offer both Oral and Inhaled Conscious Sedation at our office.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral Sedation is a sedative pill that would be swallowed in our office prior to a patients appointment. You will require an adult to tend to you after you've taken the sedative as it will likely affect both your behavior and ability to function for some hours. This includes having someone deliver you to and from your appointment.

Inhaled Conscious Sedation

Inhaled Sedation is a method in which the patient is given a gas known as Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) to breath in via a small nose mask. The gas reacts quickly and takes effect within two to five minutes. Once the procedure if complete and the patient stops breathing in the gs the effects disappear fairly quickly as well.

**More information will be provided to you from the office including risks, what to expect and a consent form.
